At the July 28 work session, staff told the board the Planning & Zoning Commission will review an application for a wireless communications tower with a 95-foot monopole in a rural zoning district where the code limits height to 30 feet. The presenter said that because the application seeks increased height rather than a new use, the request is best handled as a variance before the Board of Adjustment.
"We have an application going to the PNC next month for a wireless communication tower with a 95 foot monopole in rural," the staff member said. The board discussed how the Board of Adjustment evaluates site-specific conditions for variances and noted appeals of that body's decisions would proceed to superior court.
