Sean Garcia, who spoke for the vendor, explained that the price reflects recent extruder availability and competitive negotiations: "It's about 10% discount, which equated to about 1000000 dollar discount off of the going current" pricing, he said. Council voted to approve the procurement unanimously.
Staff said the pipe purchase is to support expanded raw-water line connections and redundancy between current and new treatment facilities and that the purchase was the lowest pricing encountered since the project began.
