Jeremy Powell (S11) told the council the current generator at Station 3 is past its life cycle and only powers a portion of that station; several stations lack any backup power. "What that means for us is we lose our radio communications at the fire station," Powell said, adding that battery backups provide only short-term support. The resolution to approve the purchase and installation passed 6–0.
Council asked about scope and vendor selection; staff said central services prepared a quotes package and recommended the vendor used previously. Staff characterized the project as an infrastructure upgrade to ensure continuity of emergency services during outages.
