Chief (S6) told the council the department has been interested in a tool to streamline social‑media searches but had been deterred by cost. "It is a 100% paid for, no match from the city so it won't cost the city a penny," the Chief said. The council moved and approved the resolution 6–0.
Councilmember (S7) made the motion to approve. The grant, if awarded, would be used to pilot the software and evaluate whether it improves investigative workflow; staff said the trial would allow a determination of usefulness before committing city funds.
