Animal control reports two impounded dogs; officer to propose impoundment fees and kennel space

Animal Control Officer Faye Cochran told the Selectboard she removed two loose dogs from East Hill and took them to Lamoille Valley Veterinary Services under the town contract. The older male required veterinary care and medication; the younger female received a rabies vaccine. The animals were held for 10 days per town policy. After that period the female was signed over to a rescue for rehoming, and the older male stayed with the foster caregiver.
Faye asked the board to consider charging an impoundment fee even when animals are held briefly at the Town Office and said she will "type up a proposal about possible impoundment fees along with fees for transporting to and from a kennel." She also recommended the new office addition include a kennel space if dog intake continues at the current frequency. Tim signed paperwork for Faye to receive an officer number to issue tickets.
