Parents urge board to consider school‑of‑choice, redistricting and family impacts of 5–6 plan

One parent said releasing students from Monroe Public Schools to attend neighboring districts is difficult under current policy and asked whether redistricting could change school-of-choice priority for siblings in the future. The parent said her family used school-of-choice to attend Manor and that redistricting could separate siblings: “I have twins coming in for preschool next year... I don't want them in 2 separate schools,” she told the board.
Parents also described emotional stress for students who have already experienced upheaval and urged the board to weigh community impacts and offer clear redistricting answers before making a decision. The board acknowledged those concerns and asked administration to include family-impact analyses in follow-up materials.
