Public Works Director Jason Fazio presented the award — $2,341,523 for design and construction with a county match of $133,466 — saying the project is approximately one mile and is part of the county’s long‑range transportation plan. Several supervisors said the price seemed high for one mile and asked whether county crews or a simpler design could substantially reduce cost. Chair Antonori suggested reengaging ADOT and asked staff to report back; Fazio warned that the funding has a timeline and could be reallocated to other jurisdictions if not accepted.
After discussion the board voted to table the IGA until the August 11 meeting to allow staff to seek clarifications and potential alternatives with ADOT.
