Tenafly Green Team and students team up on bottle-cap art, garden move and spring cleanup

Youth and community groups updated the commission on projects that mix environmental action with school activities.
Jack Altman, standing in for absent Green Team member Ben Kushman, said the high school group is collecting plastic bottle caps to make an art installation in partnership with the high school art class and will invite middle- and elementary-school clubs to participate. The Green Team has contacted local nurseries to request plant donations for a front-of-school planting; Mark Ippolito had provided the DPW nursery contact to the group.
Sue Truesdell reported the community garden will be relocated to reduce shade, will celebrate its 10th anniversary, and is working with Mackay School fourth graders to harvest garlic and potatoes. DPW agreed to supply tents to block sun during the school trip. The Green Team also plans to coordinate a spring Tenakill Brook clean-up with Hackensack Riverkeeper and will be asked to help promote the April/May Trash-a-Thon and upcoming Nature Center events.
