Van Alstyne ISD approves $52.8 million contract for high-school auditorium and additions

The Van Alstyne Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously Nov. 17 to accept construction bids for the high school auditorium, classroom and multipurpose additions (Phase 2B). Gal Construction presented the bid results and the total contract amount of $52,808,813; trustees were told the projects are within budget and are expected to finish in 14–18 months.
Trustee David Kerr moved to accept the bids as presented; Trustee Beau Williams seconded the motion, which passed 7–0. The board authorized the superintendent to negotiate and execute the final contract documents and the negotiated contract amount. The motion and vote were recorded with all trustees voting yes: B. Schoener, Mark Freeman, Beau Williams, Randall Morgan, David Kerr, Matt Morris, and Debbie Nance.

No schedule change or separate contingency amounts beyond the presented total were recorded in the minutes; the board directed administration to proceed with contract negotiation and execution.
