Joshua and Christina Larrabee withdrew their application for a rural tourism Conditional Use Permit to operate an event center and reception venue on a 40-acre Oxford Township property, and the Isanti County Planning Commission voted to recommend denial on July 8. The applicants described proposed farm-based events including therapy field trips, "pick your own" flower operations, small classes and outdoor weddings, and said they would limit guests to no more than 160 people and provide approximately 110 parking spaces.
Commissioners and staff told the applicants that the packet lacked several items requested at the June 11 meeting: a traffic study addressing a turning lane, a scaled parking and site plan, and a professional noise abatement plan. County Highway Engineer Justin Bergerson27s written comments required venue access be limited to the approved CSAH 9 driveway, that all event parking be accommodated on site, and reserved the right to require additional traffic control or turn-lane construction if operations create safety concerns on CSAH 9. Neighbor Joan Lenzmeier voiced concerns about noise and increased traffic. After the applicants verbally withdrew their request, the commission voted to recommend denial for lack of the previously requested information (motion by Lyle Reynolds; second by Todd Christensen).
