Commission backs Porters Plot preliminary plat after wetlands and floodplain noted

The Planning Commission recommended approval of a two-lot preliminary plat called Porters Plot on July 8, covering 41.90 acres in North Branch Township. Applicant Anthony Slagle described the proposal: Lot 1 = 3.86 acres and Lot 2 = 38.04 acres. Holly Nelson, deputy zoning administrator, said the parcel is zoned Agriculture/Residential, soil borings had been completed and that Type 1, Type 3, Type 5 and Type 6 wetlands and floodplain were identified on the property.
A member of the audience, Ron Drude Sr., asked about the number of building rights on the parcel during the public portion. After review and discussion, Commissioner Bruce Mickelson moved to recommend approval; Dave Henderson seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The commission27s recommendation advances the plat for subsequent county review and any required mitigation for wetlands and floodplain areas.
