Representatives from the ASVAB program and Education Service Center Region 15 asked Tom Green County commissioners to proclaim Sept. 8, 2026, as ASVAB Career Exploration Program Day to support a career-exploration event for area high-school students.
William Garcia, who introduced the program, said, "My name is mister William Garcia. I'm the ASVAB program manager at Fort Sam Houston, MEPs military interest processing station." He and Region 15 representatives described the ASVAB as both an enlistment-eligibility test and a career-exploration tool; a commissioner moved to adopt the proclamation and the court approved it by voice vote. The court indicated it will frame and present the proclamation and may provide additional logistical support for the Sept. 8 event.
