After reviewing a parent survey and hearing trustee concerns, the Presidio ISD board voted on June 24 to allow PISD school‑related or district‑purchased shirts to be worn any day at Presidio Elementary but declined to add joggers or sweatpants to the dress code.
District staff presented survey results described in the meeting: of 42 elementary parents surveyed, 40 respondents (reported as 100% of respondents) approved joggers; 30 of 43 respondents supported sweatpants or similar sportswear. Trustees raised enforcement concerns about broadening pants options and noted the need to consult administrators; because of timing before school shopping, trustees decided to act at the June meeting. Iris Galindo moved to remove the Friday‑only restriction and allow school shirts any day; Maria Montoya seconded and the motion passed 4–0.
The board left the district’s pants/shorts policy unchanged and instructed staff to document the new shirt policy implementation so that administrators and teachers can enforce it consistently.
