Presidio ISD administrators told trustees that 20 students in the district’s Early College High School earned associate degrees from Odessa College this year, the program’s largest graduating class. Presenters said the program met the state’s Outcome‑Based Measures (OBMs) once the state shifted to a “school within a school” evaluation, which counts only students enrolled in ECHS for those measures.
Despite meeting required benchmarks (examples cited included 90% passing Algebra I EOC by freshman year and 80% passing English II EOC by sophomore year), the ECHS will remain designated as 'Improvement Needed' for one additional year because Texas’ designation timeline requires two years of data under the new calculation. District staff indicated they will continue program supports and monitor outcomes.
