Council discusses parks priorities, EV chargers and near-term Safe Streets grant success

Staff reviewed parks program planning and recommended pulling conceptual park improvements out of the general CIP presentation to show bottom-line impacts; Laura said Anderson Park planning (a Land and Water Conservation Fund park) may be timed to seek matching grants in late 2027 and that a Millhouse contribution of $500,000 is shown in 2028 for Beverly Park acquisition.
On charging infrastructure, staff said a regional grant will place EV chargers at Broadmoor and the community center; recent design and transmission-line costs increased the citys share by about $30,000 from earlier budgets but remain within the grant framework. "What's reflected in here would allow us to continue to, I think it was about a $30,000 total increase over what we had budgeted last year for our share of that, to get to EV chargers at Broadmoor and 2 at the community center," Laura said. Staff also reported award notifications that reduce the citys match for a $1,000,000 Safe Streets implementation grant to about $10,000.
