Several residents used the public‑comment portion of the Sept. 16 meeting to press the CRA and city to investigate alleged mismanagement at Westview Community Cemetery.
Sheila Foster Reed alleged the cemetery board sold land and the cemetery office and failed to hold elections or communicate with surviving families, saying "No accountability, mismanagement" multiple times during her remarks. Sonya Finney added that the board finalized a $300,000 sale while a lawsuit alleging bylaw violations had been served and criticized city and CRA due diligence prior to the closing.
CRA staff did not provide immediate documentary rebuttals during public comment; commissioners and staff acknowledged the concerns and noted that staff would follow up. The allegations overlap with other public concerns about transparency and historic property transactions raised earlier in the meeting.
