Freeburg police K-9 program advances; training to start in June

Trustee Elizabeth (Lisa) Meehling reported on the Personnel/Police Committee meeting where Chief Mike Schutzenhofer and Village Administrator Matt Trout met with Officer Hunter Borger regarding a proposed K-9 program. Meehling said the officer is "on board," and Chief Schutzenhofer told trustees training will begin in June, which gives the department flexibility on dog selection and scheduling.
Chief Schutzenhofer also summarized department activity, reporting 88 calls since the committee's last meeting. Village Administrator Matt Trout told the committee he is working on revisions to the school-resource-officer (SRO) contract; no final contract action was taken at the April 7 board meeting.
