Raymondville Independent School District on Monday presented a proposed 2026–2027 budget totaling $29,888,629 in revenues and projected fund expenditures that allocate $25,312,205 to the General Fund, $3,489,424 to Food Service, and $1,087,000 to Debt Service. David Longoria, the district’s chief financial officer, led the presentation to the board.
Longoria said preliminary taxable property values received from the appraisal district measured $374,738,349, an increase of $8,022,494 — or 2.19% — from the prior year’s $366,715,855. "Preliminary property taxable values received from the appraisal district are $374,738,349, which is an increase of $8,022,494, or 2.19% compared to prior year values," Longoria said.
The proposed budget assumes a tax-rate estimate unchanged from the prior year at $0.99 per $100 of valuation; the board will adopt a final tax rate only after receiving certified values from the WCAD. The district described the budget process as having begun in February 2026 and including meetings with principals and department heads, two board budget workshops, and posting a preliminary budget and public-hearing notice.
The presentation emphasized that the district is preparing separate budgets for the Food Service Fund, General Fund and Debt Service Fund, and that the budget is framed to comply with current school finance law. The board held the public hearing on the proposed budget and had no public speakers on the item.
