Lieutenant Brian Green of the Special Operations Division told commissioners the department received a $12,000 Michigan Department of Natural Resources snowmobile patrol grant and solicited bids to purchase a replacement snowmobile. The department received three bids and recommended accepting the lowest from Bridal North for $13,460.99.
Green said the proposed Polaris meets the department's parameters and that older machines would be auctioned to offset cost. The board moved and supported the purchase recommendation and voted to approve the purchase. A commissioner noted the vendor is local, and the lieutenant said the purchase would include emergency lights as needed.
