Commissioners re‑elect chair, confirm vice chair at organizational meeting

The Marquette County Board of Commissioners re‑elected its chair and confirmed a vice chair at the board's Jan. 6 organizational meeting.

During roll call and nominations for leadership, one commissioner nominated Joe DeRosa for chair and the board carried the motion by roll call. After the vote the chair (acting as chair for the meeting) said he was "honored and humbled once again this year, to be selected as chair," and accepted the gavel.

The board also took nominations for vice chair, held a roll‑call vote and approved the nominated commissioner. The motions to elect the chair and vice chair were made and supported from the floor and passed on voice or roll‑call votes.

The actions concluded routine organizational business before the board moved on to agenda items, presentations and public comments. No contested nominations or formal abstentions were recorded on the record.
