Trustees approved change order number 5 for the new Waco High School, adding surveillance cameras, revised AV/projector equipment and intruder‑resistant film on certain exterior glass panels.
Gloria Barrera explained the additions were driven by recent changes in safety standards and by practical observations made during walkthroughs with the district police and operations teams. "We were proactive on that with having Chief Goodman and his team along with our internal technology department and the operations folks to walk through the building and look at the existing cams," she said. The district had identified two full‑height glass openings that resembled doors and opted to apply intruder‑resistant film as a precaution.
Board members supported the change order as a safety‑minded expense. The motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously. No trustee voiced opposition during the roll call.
