Students and trustees press district to repair Cutten Elementary blacktop and basketball pole

A student representative told the Cutten School District Board of Trustees on Feb. 10 that the blacktop at Cutten Elementary is unsafe, leaving basketball teams unable to practice and creating standing puddles when it rains.
The board heard that uneven surfaces and a leaning basketball pole pose injury risks. Trustee Becky Reece said the district is “awaiting a quote” after a prior repair estimate fell through, and the board did not take additional action during the meeting. The student’s presentation raised the safety concern during the reports portion of the agenda.
Trustees requested staff follow up on obtaining a current repair estimate and bringing cost and timeline options to a future meeting.
