Trustees heard that a small number of students failed first-semester classes and will be offered credit-recovery through Montana Digital Academy, an online program whose tests are proctored by school staff. The presenter explained the district prefers students complete the coursework during a class period or on their own time after enrollment rather than taking shortcuts. "We don't we want them to actually do the class rather than just get an easy pass," the presenter said.
The presenter said counselors met with affected students and families to plan paths to graduation and that freshmen with more time before senior year may have more opportunities to recover credits. The board did not take a formal vote and treated the item as a staffing/support and student-success measure.
