Board adopts 2024–25 Continuous Improvement Plan, moves multiple policies to second reading

The Preston Joint School District board voted to approve the 2024–25 Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) after Superintendent Lance Harrison summarized ELA and math targets and professional learning community (PLC) priorities.
Harrison said the district aims for a 5% scale growth in ELA and math and described PLC work focused on essential standards, common assessments and targeted reteaching. He told trustees the plan ties staffing, intervention and benchmark assessment schedules to the district goals.
Trustees moved several policy updates to second reading. The policies cover personnel conduct, purchasing and business procedures, student disciplinary frameworks and parental rights language reflecting new Idaho statutes. Trustees said the changes align district rules with recent state code updates and set a timeline for board review.
The motion to approve the CIP was made by Launa Moser and seconded by Geniel Lyons and carried 4–0 (one trustee absent). The board also voted to move policies 412, 418, 540, 564, 639, 850, 934 and 1044 to second reading.
