Neodesha approves ordinance to abate blighted property at 603 Walnut Street

The Neodesha Board of Commissioners on June 24 approved Ordinance No. 1831 authorizing the city to abate the property at 603 Walnut Street. City Administrator Jones and Building Inspector Tommy John presented the ordinance, which follows findings in Resolution 26-08 that the property is a blighting influence and that the owner failed to begin required repairs.
The ordinance directs the enforcing officer to invite bids or use city forces to raze the dwelling and garage, authorizes sale of salvage, and allows the city to levy special assessments against Lots 25–28 in Block 2 of the Northlawn Addition if salvage proceeds are insufficient. Commissioner Banzet moved to approve Ordinance 1831; Commissioner Truelove seconded and the motion carried.
