Rice ISD trustees administered the oath of office for Jason Blake and Scott Black and completed their annual reorganization at the May 20 regular meeting.
The board unanimously approved the officer slate after nominations from trustees. "I make a motion to nominate Shanna Lopez as the Rice ISD Board of Trustee President," said Kim Hrnjak; the motion, seconded by Holly Ellington, passed with a 6–0 vote and one absence. April Grant nominated Jason Blake for vice president and Kim Hrnjak nominated Jason Fisher for secretary; both nominations passed by the same recorded tally.
The officer elections set leadership roles for the coming year as the board moves into routine business including contracts, curriculum approvals and personnel decisions. The board recorded six members present and one absent at roll call.
