Riviera ISD staff weigh one-time retention stipend amid enrollment uncertainty

At the July 15 budget workshop, staff outlined options to support employee retention and suggested a one-time stipend could be more financially viable than ongoing salary increases.
Jolynn Moreno, a district staff member, said a one-time retention stipend may be more sustainable amid declining enrollment and uncertainty about future revenues. Administration (Ms. Dobson) explained that, if the board later approves a stipend, it would be considered for all district employees and emphasized that final decisions depend on certified values and enrollment counts expected later in July.
Board members discussed timing and feasibility during the workshop but did not vote on compensation changes. Staff noted no action was taken at the meeting.
