Superintendent Scotty Carman told trustees May 19 that preliminary 2026 I&S values returned by Winkler and Loving County appraisal districts totaled $17,693,000,000 (LCAD $15,200,000,000; WCAD $2,493,000,000), down from the district's 2025 preliminary I&S values of $20,547,000,000.
Kittie Gibson, Jr. High/High School Principal, reported JH/HS enrollment at 211 (147 high school, 64 junior high) and said the master schedule for 2025-26 is being drafted and will be finalized in July. Elementary Principal Candice Voyles reported total district enrollment of 227 and outlined end-of-year events and summer school: Week 1 began May 18 and Week 2 is scheduled May 26-29; six students were required to attend summer school for attendance reasons and 36 were recommended by teachers.
Superintendent Carman also noted the maintenance position has been filled, leaving one open district position; the packet indicated no retiring employees this cycle. Principals said STAAR results were expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
