The Washington Borough Green Team on Feb. 11 approved a weekly Farmers Market schedule running from June 13 through Sept. 19 and confirmed market hours of 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
"For 2026, the market hours are 9:30 am to 1:00 pm," the minutes state. The group adopted themed Saturdays (examples include "Sustainably Green Music & Arts Festival," "Bee-rooted Community," and "Sunflower Saturday") and asked WBID staff and Green Team members to finalize dates and programming.
Kristy Romanowski, WBID interim executive director, reported she has submitted the application to accept EBT/SNAP benefits and will purchase an EBT card machine once approval is granted; she has also enrolled the market in the Good Bucks program to provide additional funds for produce purchases by EBT users. The minutes also note Kristy has been in contact with Artic Foods about offering meat for sale at the market.
Dan Hirshberg, WBID PR consultant, agreed to book entertainment for each market; Kristy confirmed the budget includes funds for weekly entertainment. The minutes record that Dan suggested moving one or two event dates and that Suzanne Marr, Josephine Noone and Mayor Louann Cox will meet with WBID staff as needed to finalize themes and dates.
Small operational items included using washingtonbid@gmail.com for WBID correspondence and a request from Diana Dove to collect corks at the market for reuse in crafts. The Green Team did not record any formal vote on market logistics beyond the scheduling discussions and delegated planning tasks.
