Hays council selects GrantWorks to lead TWDB grant application

The Hays City Council voted on May 19 to accept the committee recommendation to select GrantWorks as the city’s grant management firm for a Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) water supply and infrastructure grant application.
The selection followed a May 15 committee review and scoring of proposals; committee members reported that only one responsive proposal was received. Council members asked staff about the expected award amount and fee structure; staff said the dollar value of a potential award had not yet been calculated and that grant-manager fees can be structured as a percentage of the award and included in the grant application. "GrantWorks does have extensive experience with grants that are specific to the Texas Water Development Board," a council member stated on the record.
A motion to approve the resolution to select GrantWorks was made and seconded; the council approved the resolution by voice vote with four in favor and one member absent. The resolution authorizes negotiation of a contract and allows the city’s designated representative to finalize fee terms on the city’s behalf. The mayor signed the resolution and the city secretary will attest.
Next steps include staff negotiating the contract terms with GrantWorks and, if agreement is reached, final execution contingent on successful negotiation and any TWDB requirements.
