"This is a 6 month extension with our current medical provider in the jail, to allow us to research and explore other options for medical services for the inmates," Holloway said and stated the total price for the extension as $220,525 (about $36,754 per month). Commissioners questioned whether higher costs were tied to late renewal timing or normal annual increases; one commissioner noted the provider typically rises 3–3.5% annually and noted malpractice-insurance pass-throughs as a major cost driver. The court approved the six-month extension by voice vote.
Staff said the extension should give them ample time to evaluate alternatives and present fiscally responsible recommendations to the court.
