The Village of North Riverside accepted and ratified a $500,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to cover capital improvements at village property, including a complete tear‑off and replacement of the police department roof and interior restoration for water damage.
Trustee Sarra (speaker 6) told the board the grant, awarded under PA 103‑006, will be appropriated from the Build Illinois Bond Fund and that all grant funds must be spent by Nov. 30, 2027. "The village was awarded a $500,000 grant from the state of Illinois, Department of Commerce, and Economic Opportunity for costs associated with capital improvements to village property," Sarra said, and staff recommended ratifying the grant agreement.
A resolution to ratify the grant (Resolution 26 R‑01) was prepared for full board consideration under the attorney section and trustees approved the resolution by roll‑call vote. The board did not record any conditions or local matching requirements in the meeting discussion; staff asked the board to accept the grant and ratify execution of the agreement.
