Riviera ISD adopts 2026–27 compensation plan with stipend restructuring

Trustees approved the district—s 2026—27 compensation plan after Ms. Moreno reviewed recommended salary scales and stipend changes. The certified and non-certified salary schedules, paraprofessional and professional scales, and substitute pay rates were recommended to remain unchanged; teachers eligible for step increases will continue to advance.

Ms. Moreno proposed removing the Data Specialist and District Testing Coordinator stipends because those duties will be absorbed into existing positions, adding a Yearbook Sponsor stipend, and creating a Family and Community Engagement Sponsor stipend funded through Title I. Athletic stipends were restructured: additions included an Assistant Football Coach position, renaming of the Strength and Conditioning stipend to a team-related stipend, and consolidating track coaching into a single head coach with four assistants. The administration estimated an overall net reduction in stipend expenditures of approximately $250. The motion to approve was made by Becky Gutierrez and seconded by Michael Valenzuela; the measure passed (Yea 5, Nay 1, Absent 1).
