Riviera ISD to pilot Seahawk Flex hybrid program for seniors in 2026–27

Ms. Dobson outlined the Seahawk Flex Program, a late-start hybrid pilot for seniors in 2026—27 that combines remote coursework with required on-campus attendance. Under the proposed model, students will attend fully on Wednesdays and report beginning fifth period on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; face-to-face attendance will still be required for assessments, benchmarks, labs and other designated activities.
Ms. Dobson said students will be required to maintain a 95% attendance rate, complete daily check-ins and provide their own transportation. She explained that students who fail to meet program requirements may be removed from the program and returned to the traditional instructional setting. The board discussed monitoring attendance and accountability and raised the possibility of expanding eligibility to juniors after the pilot year if the program proves successful.
