M&J Underground submits low bid of $2.26 million for East Side Combined Sewer project

"M&J Underground, Inc. was the lowest bidder with an amount of $2,261,512.00," Champion reported; the engineer is reviewing bids and will make a recommendation to the city once the review is complete.
Champion said the project will be funded through IEPA State Revolving Funds. The report noted that the project replaces old and deteriorating combined sewers and that officials will brief the council after the engineer’s recommendation. No award was recorded at the May 20 meeting; the report to council described the bid opening and funding source only.
The council also discussed other planned resurfacing and stormwater projects during the administrator’s report, but the combined‑sewer bid was the single largest construction procurement item disclosed at the meeting.
