Markham seeks bids on water‑main and sewer rehabilitation projects; sidewalk grant interview set

City Administrator Derrick Champion said the East Side Water Main and Lead Service Line Replacement‑Phase I and the East Side Combined Sewer Rehabilitation‑Phase I projects are currently out for bids, with submissions due in the first week of May; both projects are being funded with IEPA State Revolving Funds. Champion also said bidding documents for the Central Park Resurfacing Project (159th St to W 157th St) are out and bids are due April 24; that project is being funded with a $100,000 DCEO grant.
Champion further reported that Markham has been shortlisted for the 2026 IICP grant program; the proposal would build a concrete sidewalk connecting Markham Park Elementary School to the I‑57 pedestrian bridge along Central Park Ave and the city expects to participate in an interview with IICP officials next week. IDOT bridge repair work on 159th Street over the I‑57 corridor is planned for summer 2026, and Cook County's consulting engineer is finalizing East Markham Park design with construction expected in late May.
