Royal ISD board approves Bond 2023 GMPs and additional scopes, including $2.9M STEM amendment

The Royal Independent School District Board of Trustees on March 23 approved multiple amendments and vendor authorizations tied to the district's Bond 2023 program, including a $2,908,102.16 guaranteed maximum price (GMP) amendment for the STEM Academy security vestibule and administration building submitted by TELLEPSEN.

"Motion that the Board approve the GMP for the sum of $2,908,102.16 as submitted by TELLEPSEN and authorize the Superintendent or her designee, to sign the Amendment to the contract as a GMP as presented by administration," Trustee Melissa Woods moved during the meeting; Trustee Elton Foster seconded and the motion passed by roll call. The board's approvals also authorized the superintendent or designee to execute contract amendments and purchases recommended by administration.

Other Bond 2023 approvals included an elementary playgrounds additional scope of $434,554.45 and an Agricultural Expo Center additional scope of $200,574.84, both submitted by TELLEPSEN and approved by the board. The board also approved contractor additional scope for a detention pond at the Transportation Center and authorized vendors for high school CTE and Ag Center equipment and furniture.

All motions related to Bond 2023 items were recorded as passing by the five trustees present (Elton Foster, Rose Jones, Traci Seward, Cori Vahalik, Melissa Woods). Administration presented the project details and recommended authorization language; the board's votes permit the district to proceed with executing the contract amendments and purchases.
