District leaders presented declining-enrollment data and preliminary sustainability steps and asked trustees for guidance on community engagement and next steps.
Dr. Jeannie Meza-Chavez and cabinet members reviewed enrollment trends and district support-service needs. Trustee Alexis Tellez requested a report showing which full-time positions have been consolidated through attrition over the past three years; HR representative Gina Ramirez agreed to compile that report. Trustee Lorenzo Luevano urged that campus information be shared with the community so residents can understand enrollment trends and facilities planning.
Trustee Eduardo Chavez urged the board to begin TRE (tax ratification election) and/or bond preparations, noting the May 2027 election as a potential target rather than November 2026 to allow more community engagement and planning. Dr. Meza-Chavez said timelines are informational and contingent on the facility assessment and long-range facility plan.
