Board approves $102,678.98 purchase of Magnetic Literacy K–5 program funded by CLSD grant

The Scottsbluff Public Schools board approved a $102,678.98 purchase of the Magnetic Literacy K–5 English language arts program to be paid from CLSD grant funds. Presenters said the district currently uses components of the Magnetic suite and that the new comprehensive program consolidates materials into a single workbook and includes teacher digital resources and professional development.
A staff presenter described teacher input and said teachers had online access to the new program and responded positively. "We actually have had... all the teachers... have access to this new program... and we have no concerns right now," a presenter said. Another administrator explained the purchase will be funded from a CLSD grant the district received and estimated the district got $259,000 per year from that grant round and will use the grant to cover the program and related training.
The board moved to approve the purchase and, after discussion about grant use and long-run savings from consolidating materials, voted in favor of the motion.
