The Scottsbluff Public Schools board approved a new elementary boundary map that reassigns the Lake Minitaire attendance area to Longfellow Elementary for the 2026–27 school year. A district presenter explained families in the reassigned area will be automatically enrolled at Longfellow and described in-district transfer procedures for families who wish to attend a different elementary.
The presenter outlined a two-round transfer timetable to manage requests generated by the boundary change: a first-round, first-come-first-served transfer deadline and a secondary round with a March 31 deadline. "So the families who currently reside in the Lake Minitaire attendance area, those students will be automatically assigned to Longfellow Elementary," the presenter said. The board voted to approve the boundary changes after staff answered questions about notification and timelines.
Staff said they will call families affected by in-district transfers to notify them of placements and that principals plus district administrators will convene to evaluate capacity and IEP implications during the transfer process.
