Darien SD 61 board adopts 2024 tax levy and related tax resolutions

The Darien District #61 Board of Education voted Dec. 17 to adopt a series of 2024 tax resolutions that together set the district’s levy structure for the coming year. The approved measures included a Resolution Authorizing and Directing Final Aggregate Tax Levy; a Resolution Levying a Special Tax for Special Education Purposes; and a Resolution Authorizing a Supplemental Tax Levy to pay principal and interest on outstanding limited bonds. The board also adopted the Certificate of Tax Levy to be sent to the county clerk to calculate the actual levy.
Board members voting aye were Travis Myers, Anthony Ramos, Todd McDaniel, Gabriela Ceferin, Allyson Renell and Board President Karen Buckels; Board Member Dana Pavlu was absent and there were no nays recorded. Finance materials and the tax-levy presentation were provided by district staff in support of the motions. Board members noted the supplemental levy will help cover bond obligations tied to capital work such as a water-pipe project at Mark DeLay Elementary.
