Town Manager Lisa Morrell notified council that lightning caused damage to the air conditioning system (Angel Air) and to a copier, requiring emergency work and temporary cooling. Staff had also rented spot coolers from Herc Rentals to stabilize conditions while repairs proceeded.
Council ratified the emergency procurements under Town Code Section 2-108(c), approving repairs and related expenses totaling $14,694.30 (motion CM Wayne Abare/CM Cliff Dykes; vote all ayes, 4-0). Morrell said the town has filed a claim with its insurance carrier for the damage and that the code requires council notification within 10 days for emergency purchases.
No additional budget action was taken at the meeting; staff will report back on insurance recovery and any needed budget adjustments once claim outcomes are known.
