PUC approves statewide Assurance Wireless ETC designation under stipulation

The commission accepted a stipulation expanding Assurance Wireless USA LP's designation as an eligible telecommunications carrier (ETC) throughout Nevada. Assurance Wireless agreed it will not seek Nevada Fund support and will file tariff updates within 60 days of the order.
Commissioner Brown presented an amended application by Assurance Wireless USA LP to expand its designation as an eligible telecommunications carrier under applicable NAC provisions and the Communications Act. Brown said the parties reached a stipulation resolving all issues in the docket and that Assurance Wireless will specify service areas in its advisory tariff.
"The parties have stipulated that Assurance Wireless's designation as an ETC shall be expanded throughout the state of Nevada," Brown said. The stipulation also included the company's agreement not to seek Nevada Fund support to maintain availability of telephone service and required the company to file any necessary tariff revisions within 60 days of the order. Chair Williamson moved to accept the stipulation and issue the order; the motion carried unanimously.
