Select board approves contract for Douglas Landry as Littleton police chief

The Littleton Select Board voted unanimously to approve an employment agreement with Douglas Landry, confirming him as the town’s new police chief effective 08/03/2026. The board took the vote after briefly meeting in executive session to conclude contract negotiations and then returned to the public meeting for a recorded voice vote in favor of the contract.

Landry thanked the board and staff after the vote and told the meeting he has been with the department for more than a decade: “I was the 13th officer, and we were a full staff when I got here. And now we’re at 24,” he said, framing his remarks around the department’s growth and recent retirements. He also noted that Deputy Chief Patterson is set to retire on Sept. 1 and that transition planning is underway.

The vote followed a short agenda that included a Finance Committee joint session and a separate motion to approve a waiver concerning town administrator leave. Board members offered congratulations and brief remarks of support before moving on to an extended presentation on a proposed reorganization of the police department.

Next steps: the employment agreement takes effect as recorded and Chief Landry is proceeding with internal personnel actions and a reorganization plan that the board considered later in the meeting.
