City updates paving, HSIP awards and emergency well repair in engineering briefing

Brandon Rodriguez, senior civil engineer, provided a broad engineering update covering design progress, grant cycles, and capital projects.
Rodriguez reported that HSIP cycle 10 and several pedestrian improvement projects were awarded to MCE at city council on June 4 and that curb ramps on the western side near City Hall are complete with eastern‑side work and a raised crosswalk to follow. He said the pavement preservation project list was enlarged to create a larger contract to attract more bidders for next year.
Rodriguez also reported progress on other CIP items including the 27-inch-3 rehab project, Lincoln lift station design nearing completion, and a storm drain master plan in development. He said council approved an emergency repair to the Valley Glen well liner at the last council meeting and that work would start shortly.
Rodriguez noted an RFQ completed to establish an on‑call list for construction management and professional engineering services, and he said DKS remains the on‑call traffic consultant and completed the Bridal Way traffic analysis for the city.
