Dixon council approves two pavement marker locations and solar feedback signs for Bridal Way

Council members voted to add traffic-calming measures on Bridal Way, pairing audible/visual pavement markers with solar-powered feedback signs to slow vehicles approaching a sharp turn. Public works presented three options — pavement markers ("bot dots"), solar feedback signs and lane delineators — and recommended a combination that would avoid new poles by mounting signs on existing streetlights.
Public works project manager Mr. Fong described cost ranges for the components and asked for direction. After public comment urging simpler pavement markers and council debate about maintenance and driveway impacts, Council Member Hendershot moved to install two pavement-marker locations (one at the north approach and one at the south approach) along with solar feedback signs. "I'll make a motion for the 2, 1 in the north, 1 in the south of the bot dot, and then the, solar feedback signs as well," Hendershot said.
The motion passed on roll-call: Council Member Bogue voted no; Council Members Ernest and Hendershot and Mayor Byrd voted aye. Council and staff agreed to return with precise placement, a measurement field check, and a budget adjustment at the next meeting. Mayor Byrd and staff noted delineators were rejected because they tend to be knocked down and could be hit by vehicles backing from driveways.
The council directed staff to proceed with ordering signs and the pavement-marking materials and to prepare the necessary budget amendment. Implementation timing will depend on ordering lead times for the solar feedback units and staff availability to install the markers and signs.
