Principal Nicole Carpenter presented the Durand Area High School report that highlighted PBIS student recognitions, successful homecoming activities and a rise in parent-teacher conference participation (27% attendance, up from 19.6% last year). The packet states that the district received two grants administered by the Shiawassee Community Foundation: $750 dedicated to cafeteria activity supplies and $5,000 to plan a freshman team-building trip to Howell Nature Center on Oct. 29.
The high school also hosted 'Cookies and College Apps,' where well over 100 college applications were submitted and 20 students won raffle prizes. The packet lists count-day attendance at the high school as 367 of 387 students present, and it includes recognition of student and staff achievements.
