Northern Valley board approves building needs assessment; elevator/lift prep out to bid

The Northern Valley Board approved the Building Needs Assessment for the 2024-25 school year after Superintendent Ken Tharman presented the District Leadership Team's recommendations.
K–8 Principal Marvin Gebhard reviewed summer work and facilities updates: the wet-bulb thermometer used for extreme-heat monitoring is in place and he is pursuing one for the junior high; the site-prep scope for an elevator/lift installation in the grade school has been completed and is currently out for bids, with specifics available from the district office. Tharman and Gebhard also thanked summer crews and contractors for their work preparing classrooms and fields.
The board carried the motion to approve the Building Needs Assessment (motion by Laquita Smith, seconded by Rich Wenzl). The superintendent's administrative report thanked the summer staff and volunteers for completed projects and noted that fall sports and activities were underway.
