Board approves bus safety routes, SRO agreement and Minico handbook changes

Immediately afterward the board approved the Rupert City SRO agreement on a motion from Trustee Juan Perez that was seconded by Trustee Rick Kent; that motion also "carried." The board later approved an amended Minico High School handbook that adds new language on self-directed learners and options for seniors, following recommendations brought forward by Mr. Larsen and counselors.
Board members and administrators framed the handbook changes as measures to increase transparency and provide clearer pathways for seniors who need only a few credits to graduate. Superintendent's materials included a staff-developed draft of the handbook language; the minutes note that Mr. Larsen and Mrs. Austen met with counselors and administrators to develop the revisions. The handbook amendment was approved by motion of Trustee Claridge and seconded by Trustee Kent.
