Dixon Public Library outlines fall calendar of programs, digital resources

Ricky Jurtson, a library associate with the Dixon Public Library, presented the library's fall calendar to the Dixon City Parks and Recreation Commission on Sept. 24, 2024, and urged residents to use the library's digital resources and register early for popular programs.
Jurtson listed recurring offerings and special events: weekly family story time Tuesdays at 10 a.m., bilingual Spanish story time on Wednesdays at 10 a.m., a Thursday ‘‘Barbies and Cars Free Play’’ for children ages 3–10 from 3:30–4:30 p.m., a kids’ yoga class run by Busy Bee Studios on Wednesdays at 11 a.m., and multi‑age Soccer Shots sessions in October. "If you go to solanolibrary.com and go to the 24 7 digital library tab, you can find essential all kinds of back to school, ready links and helpful information to help your child," Jurtson said, directing parents to online resources.
He also highlighted several teen programs: a Pokemon trading session with The Collector's Corner on Saturday, Oct. 19; a teen cooking class with SS Curry Express on Oct. 29; and Halloween cookie decorating on Oct. 31. Saturday morning "Canopy and Chill" kids programming runs 9:30–10:30 a.m. through December; a tiny art show for adults and teens will run all October with 8-by-8 panels available at the front desk. The library will host a Harvest Exchange on Sept. 26 from 5–6 p.m., followed by a Sustainable Solano community garden meeting at 6 p.m., and a mini health fair with Touro University offering diabetes and blood-pressure checks is scheduled for Nov. 6 from 3–6 p.m.
Jurtson noted several programs require pre-registration and that many slots are popular. He thanked Dixon Unified School District and Solano County for support and encouraged residents to pick up a program calendar at the library circulation desk for full details and registration information.
